Collins College of Professional Studies is on a mission to provide scholarships and applied research opportunities for students in computer-science-based programs at St. John’s.
Computing technologies have become fundamental to every aspect of our society and have led to significant transformations in our lives. Through our programs, students acquire technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and professional abilities to pursue careers in diverse technological domains, including artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity, data science, healthcare informatics, and digital design, using technologies such as machine learning, cryptography, data mining, networks, and image analysis. We have active student clubs that organize presentations and tutorials on cutting-edge technologies and participate in hackathons and programming contests. Students also have many opportunities to work with our faculty on state-of-the-art research projects. Our graduates have gone on to work at many top companies in diverse industries applying or developing digital technologies, ranging from healthcare and cybersecurity to finance, IT consulting and services, Data & Analytics, working for companies including Accenture, Google, IBM, Lyft, Meta, Spotify, the New York Times, and Wells Fargo. In the last five years, our faculty has worked hard to improve the quality and reputation of our programs by securing prestigious accreditations (NSA center of excellence, ABET), increasing the amount and quality of research publications, and developing new graduate programs in Computer Science, Data Science, and Cybersecurity.
