Michael Leavy is a distinguished independent filmmaker recognized as one of the most successful, up and coming of his generation. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Television and Film from St. John’s University and pursued graduate-level coursework to deepen his expertise in the field he is passionate about.

“Attending St. John’s University was one of the most formative experiences of my life. It not only provided me with a world-class education but also instilled in me the values of perseverance, service, and community that have guided my career and personal journey. The opportunities I had at St. John’s, whether in the classroom, collaborating with peers, or learning from mentors, gave me the foundation and confidence to pursue a career in independent filmmaking and to navigate the challenges of building something from the ground up. Being recognized now as a 'Johnnie of the 21st Century' is deeply meaningful because so much of who I am today is rooted in the lessons and spirit of St. John’s. Giving back is important to me because I want to ensure that future generations of Johnnies have the same chance to grow, dream, and achieve beyond what they ever thought possible.
