CPHS Public Health Research and Intervention Fund – Covid Research Project
I am Dr. Harlem Gunness from the Public Health program at St. John’s University.
In keeping with St. John’s Vincentian mission to address to needs of the poor and vulnerable, I developed 2 fascinating projects to help communities in need during the pandemic:
- COVID-19 vaccine intervention project: The project goal is to bring COVID-19 vaccine education to some of NYC’s most vulnerable communities in 10 different languages.
In addition, we are working closely with NYC’s HHC to implement vaccine clinics in very hard to reach communities.
This will help bring us closer and closer to closing the gaps in low vaccination rates and establishing herd immunity
2. A COVID-19 documentary: aims to bring a unique perspective on the vaccination process and access to the vaccine in the underserved communities of New York City.
The film will give voice to the different sides of the vaccination debate to create a better understanding of this complex situation and show the solutions that the inspiring community leaders in New York City have come up with. Fascinating and intense scenes will be featured in this story.
I want St. John’s to be beacon of light and a catalyst for change so I do wish you give to this important cause.
The goal for funding these projects is $30,000. Thank you and happy holidays!
