St. John's participation in the Midnight Run began in 2003 and continues today as we work to address the challenge of homelessness, while providing students with the opportunity to better understand the teaching of human dignity and the ability to see Christ in those we serve as St. Vincent De Paul saw them. It is one of the most popular services among the member of St. John’s University with 2-3 runs a week throughout each semester of school. Through this experience students have a direct encounter with men and women who are willing to share their stories. Our focus is to provide tangible resources such as food and clothing to those in need and help our students to understand the mission of St. Vincent DePaul of love and service to those in your community.
“We should assist the poor in every way and do it both by ourselves and by enlisting the help of others…To do this is to preach the gospel by words and work.” - St. Vincent De Paul
