Known to many St. John's students and alumni simply as Dr. Greh, Dr. Deborah E. Greh was a fixture on the Staten Island campus for 31 years. Even when she retired in 2019 from the teaching that she loved, Dr. Greh remained in contact with hundreds of her students, in many cases for decades after their graduation. Dr. Greh passed away in February of 2020, leaving behind the university she loved and thousands of lives that she touched.
Her diverse array of communication arts students over the years boasts several grammy winners, as well as award-winning journalists, television producers, music makers, filmmakers, authors, marketing professionals, video gamers and more.
"Her dedication to her students didn’t end on graduation day; rather, for many of her alumni she served as a mentor and friend for life. She never stopped teaching - her guidance and wisdom were boundless, as was her gleeful humor and quick wit.” - Rosanne Mottola
In 2013 Dr. Deborah E. Greh established a fund on the Staten Island Campus to provide scholarship support to students at the Collins College of Professional Studies majoring in Mass Communication fields with the intent of ensuring that bright, driven students of limited means could attend the Staten Island campus and major in the field of her background and their choice.
What better way to recognize Dr. Greh's legacy than to add funds to the scholarship she created to ensure that her students could succeed? Please consider a gift today.
