A scholarship fund has been created in honor of Dean Jeffrey Fagen, Ph.D., who has served as Dean of St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for 20 years, from 2000 to 2020.
Dr. Fagen completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at City College of New York, and his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Developmental Psychology at Rutgers University. He joined the faculty at St. John's in 1981 as Associate Professor, was promoted to Professor in 1990, became Director of the Child Psychology Program in 1984, and became Chair of the Department of Psychology in 1990.
Dr. Fagen is a prolific scholar and has co-edited three books, published over 50 journal articles and book chapters, and presented his work at over 50 professional conferences in the field of developmental psychology and developmental psychobiology. He serves on the editorial boards of two journals and is a fellow of four divisions of the American Psychological Association (APA). Dr. Fagen has been awarded several extramural research grants - including an RO1 grant from The National Institute of Health (NIH) -- and he has served on two NIH study sections. He has been an accreditation site visitor for the Committee on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association since 1992 and is a licensed psychologist in the State of New York.
The Dean Jeffrey Fagen Scholarship was started through a seed donation from an anonymous benefactor. That donation created the base to begin awarding $1,000 per year to an eligible student in St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, with selection criteria determined by the Dean. To make this a true legacy (endowed) scholarship, we need your help!
Please join us in celebrating Dean Fagen's contributions to St. John’s University by making a donation to the Dean Jeffrey Fagen Legacy Scholarship.
