About

The holiday season has always been a time of joy that brings families and friends closer together. However, for many families, this season will be marked by the sadness that comes from struggling to bear the burden of financial hardship. While we’re caught up in the excitement of finding the perfect gifts for those we love and planning our holiday dinner, we should remember that there are so many families right here in New York for whom Christmas is just another day of having to do without.

You can share the warmth of Christmas with families who need help by participating in Bread & Life’s Sponsor-A-Family program. A donation of $125 to Sponsor-A-Family will cover the costs of eight new age-appropriate gifts or toys, a complete holiday meal for two families with up to three children and new warm hats and gloves for five homeless clients.

Our Vincentian values of caring and concern for others have always made the St. John’s University experience so unique, and we invite you to consider putting those values into action by participating in this wonderful sponsorship program. There can be no finer feeling on Christmas morning than the joy that comes from knowing that you’ve brought the holiday spirit into the lives of those who need it most. Please sponsor a family, and transform their Christmas from hopeless to hopeful.
