Our goal to establish a memorial Scholarship in the honor of Bernard Frank Veneziano III. This scholarship will provide annual support to academically qualified students. We hope to create an endowment to extend Bernard's willingness to help people & have his name last forever.
Bernard Frank Veneziano III was a person of culture, charity and community, and he exuded selflessness and care for others. He excelled in all aspects of life including family, professional development, and friendship.
To know Bernard is to love Bernard! His can-do attitude, outgoing personality and mindset were infectious and would brighten everyone’s day. At St. John's University, Bernard took courses on the Staten Island and Manhattan Campus, majoring in Quantitative Risk Management, in the Tobin College of Business. During his tenure at St. John’s he was an avid member of Student Government, Alpha Phi Delta, Forever Friends, and Gamma Iota Sigma. He was elected as the President of Student Government were he positively impacted the Staten Island campus. He was selected to participate in the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance & Actuarial Science (GRSM), Global Destination Course where he traveled the world to meet insurance executives. His career in the insurance industry started at ProSight, where he was a program underwriter. He then proceeded to work at Aon. Bernard was an active young leader in the insurance industry until he tragically passed away in 2020.
This scholarship is being established through the collaborative efforts of family, friends, and colleagues of Bernard. It is being done in loving memory of a young man, with life goals, who always looked for the next challenge; an old soul, who seized and soared with each opportunity - Bernard Frank Veneziano III.
The Scholarship Fund shall provide one or more partial annual scholarships to academically qualified student(s) in GSRM, majoring in risk management or quantitative risk. Preference will be given to students who are residents of Staten Island, NY and/or take courses on the St. John’s University Staten Island campus.
The recipient(s) of the Scholarships shall be selected by the University’s Office of Student Financial Services or its successor in consultation with the Dean of the School of Risk Management and Insurance or his/her designee. The criteria used in determining the recipients shall be based upon a review of a 500 word (max) essay on the topic of “social impact”, a minimum G.P.A. of 3.25 and the candidate(s) involvement in two or more student organizations at St. John’s University. Total awards annually shall be $1,000.00 or more based upon the Dean’s recommendation and the funding available.
